Flounder Gigging Charters

Flounder Gigging with Fishing Galveston Tx

Book a  Galveston Flounder Gigging Charter with Captain Greg, and experience the thrill of flounder gigging at night.  For those of you that are not familiar with flounder gigging, let me explain it to you.  Flounder lay on the bottom of the bay floor, and 'blend in' with their surroundings.  The flounder move into the shallows at night waiting in ambush until a mullet, shrimp or other small prey swim by for their next meal.  The most popular way to get these flounder is to illuminate the bay floor with powerful lights at night and 'hunt' for the flounder.  When we spot a flounder, we gig the flounder with a sharp spear then lift it into the boat.  I like to describe a flounder gigging charter as a little bit of hunting and a little bit of fishing rolled up into a longtime Texas Tradition we call Flounder Gigging.  Not only do we gig flounder, but blue crabs, black drum, and sheepshead to name a few other species.  Stingarees are common as well in the warmer months.  Kids, women and men alike should all experience this adventure at least once in their lives.  I bet you come back for more!

We roam the shallow waters in the comfort of a 20 foot Boatright, custom built specifically for flounder gigging with halogen and led lighting for optimum gigging.  This boat allows us to get where the flounder are at night - the shallows - as they are waiting to ambush their meal!

We also offer the fishing/flounder gig combo trips!  We fish for 2 to 3 hours in the evening for redfish, trout and flounder.  Then at dusk we put the fishing poles up, crank up the lights and begin our flounder gigging adventure.  This trip is very popular, and gives the anglers more adventure on the water.  Trips are 7 to 8 hours long, unless we limit out sooner.

$400 for 1 to 2 people (5 hour unless limit sooner)
