Galveston Bay Fishing Report for April

Galveston Bay Fishing has been good this April.  Good numbers of speckled trout are being caught all over the bay.  Bait of choice for our trips have been live shrimp under a popping cork in 2 to 4 foot of water over shell.  We are definitely in the warming trend of spring now, and the trout are beginning to really turn on.  We have also ran some Galveston Bay Night Fishing Charters with good success on Big Speckled trout.

Redfish are good in the back lakes and bayous.  These make great Fishing Trips for Kids!  Nice calm waters, and allot of fish.  We may catch 30 to 40 fish on these trips which make great action for kids.  There are allot of just under the slot redfish in the back lakes right now which make for great fishing fun for kids.

The flounder gigging has been somewhat slow due to unstable winds and very high spring tides.  When the tides are extremely high it makes for tough gigging due to the flounder moving up into the grass following the bait, which makes for tough conditions to find them.  There are allot of flounder in the bays, and once the weather stabilizes – we will be getting them.
